Background

Experience Our Cattle Farm

Kurrara High Country is a working cattle property set on 2500 acres of picturesque mountain ranges, fertile pastures and untouched bushland.

Kurrara was formally a part of the neighbouring property Millmaland. It was previously owned by the Kater brothers to supplement a successful Merino Wool Stud in Warren, NSW. It was sold off and renamed “KURRARA” in the 1980’s and used as a sheep and cattle station ever since.

Purchased in 2021 by Bek & Mick it has undergone a dramatic transformation. From earthworks to increase cattle grazing country, pasture improvements and renovations to the multiple dwellings. This property is a labour of love.

Currently home to 200 head of cows, they can be seen grazing freely over the country side. Guests are asked to respect the property and its inhabitants. Please also remember to close all gates behind you as you enter and depart the property.

Meet Your Hosts

Both born and bred in the Hunter, Mick on a small Dairy farm at Stanhope and Bek in the, then small town of Branxton. Mick has worked in Agriculture and Construction for his entire working life. Currently running 2 cropping and cattle farms and his own Earthmoving business.

Bek has been a qualified Chef for 24 years. With experience in Motels, Pubs, Clubs, Cafes and 4.5-star Function facilities, as well as fundraising and private catering.

Mick and Bek have been together for 22 years and settled in Moonan Flat 11 years ago. They quickly concluded that this area would be the perfect location to raise their young family. Providing a rural lifestyle with clean air & water, small rural school and a great opportunity to ensure that their young children (Emily, Darcy & Angus) grew up with country values.

They then purchased Kurrara in July 2021, to expand and diversify their existing agricultural business based in Moonan Flat. Kurrara offered a unique opportunity, close to their existing holdings with high rainfall and rich soils.

Kurrara is primarily a working cattle farm, showcasing a huge potential for getaway accommodation in an amazing rural setting, close to local attractions and breathtaking scenery.
